Characteristics of Racing Area:
The racing area is located in the wide-bodied section of the Indian River Lagoon. ( 1 x 4 mile) on the East side of the intracoastal waters. It is sheltered from the sea by Hutchinson Island. The area has low power boating traffic as the entire west half of the river requires slow speed due to a manatee zone. Traditionally, there is little to no commercial traffic in our racing area.
What is the Status of Water Quality at the Venue:
The USSCMC is located on the Indian River in Florida, near Jensen Beach, and we have not experienced negative water quality in recent weeks or months. Our water quallity is monitored by the Florida Oceanographic Society in conjunction with the Marine Resource Council and the Florida Department of Health. A current report can be viewed here.
Water quality can change from day to day depending on the weather and other conditions. The ratings are only as good as the point in time of tesing, so we continually monitor all reports to ensure our members and event participants are safeguarded.
Ample parking is availabe onsite. Overflow parking is directed next door to the Indain Riverside Park where Martin County allows use of 300+ parking spaces. For your convenience, sailors and equipment drop-off and pick-up is easily accommodated in front of the Sailing Center in the circular driveway.
