The USSCMC offers two tracks to consider:

The High School Sailing Team is open to new and experienced sailors who have a desire to train for competitive racing . All interested students may participate  - even if they have little or no sailing experience. Different skill levels are required for skippers and crew. Participants with little or no sailing experience will most likely begin as crew. Sailing builds character, mental and physical strength, social responsibility, critical thinking, and offers a team sport camaraderie. The emphasis for this team is on learning, adventure, and personal growth.

The High School Racing Team is for experienced sailors looking for a more competitive environment who have a passion and desire to train and advance their racing skills. Members of this team are held to a higher standard and must meet ongoing requirements to maintain racing team status.
