USSCMC Club 420 Race Program

Who is the program for:

• High School Sailors - High School Sailors who are seeking to improve their skills to compete at higher levels of competition.
• Advanced Middle School Sailors - who have outgrown the Optimist and wish for more race training than is provided in our middle school program.
• High School Students – who are skilled experienced sailors whose High School is not represented in the High School Sailing Program

What is the program focus:

• Advanced training in the Club 420 with trapeze and spinnakers

When are practices:

• 10:30 AM- 4:30 PM Sundays: Sept 17,24; Oct 8,15,29; Nov 5,19,26; Dec 10,17; Jan 7,21,28; Feb 11
• 10:30 AM- 4:30 PM Saturdays: Sept 23; Oct 14; Nov 11,25; Dec 16,23; Jan 6; Feb 3 
• 3:30-6:30 PM after school when HS Sailing is on break:  Nov 8, 10,16,17,29; Dec 1,7,8,13,14,20,22

What is the regatta plan:

• Florida East Coast Regattas will be a team decision whether to practice or compete.  Coaching for these regattas will be included in the Sunday fee schedule.
• We will be racing in the Club 420 at the Junior Olympic Sailing Festival and the Club 420 Midwinters (both are home regattas)
• Encourage Orange Bowl but cannot guarantee that we can provide a coach.
• The season is scheduled to end at Midwinters and will be reassessed to be continue.

Program size:

• Capped at 5 boats / 10 sailors.

Cost of program:

• A minimum of 6 sailors must be registered for each of the offered schedules otherwise those dates will be cancelled, and a refund will be provided to anyone who registered.
• Practices $20 per sailor per hour (capped at 5 hours)- Must sign up and pay at registration for all Sundays on the schedule and/or all Saturdays and/or all weekdays. 
  • Saturdays ($800)
  • Sundays ($1400)
  • Weekdays ($780)
• Travel Regatta Coaching will be $150 per sailor per race-day (minimum 6 sailors must travel)
• JOSF (Dec 2,3), Midwinters (Feb 17,18,19) will be $100 per sailor per race-day.
• FEC Series will be free coaching if the team chooses to travel instead of practice.
• Entry fees are additional for each regatta.  Home regattas will be discounted 50%.
