The US Sailing Center of Martin County invites YOU to learn how to SAIL in one of our weekday or weekend classes!

Learn the basics of sailing on our Flying Scots in a twelve-hour course - wind knowledge, rigging, points of sail, tacking, jibing, sailing on a reach and more! Don't pass up the fun of sailing this year ...
Join as a member - take advantage of discounted class fees and the opportunity to enjoy unlimited sailing at NO additional cost! Members may sail or kayak anytime during community sailing hours. Non-members may also join our class offerings.

Flying Scot Spinnaker Class

Our newly refurbished Flying Scots are rigged and ready to sail spinnakers! Spinnakers offer the thrill of colorful, high speed, downwind sailing. In order to use our spinnakers, the skipper and at least one crew must be certified for spinnaker sailing by USSCMC.
- Bob Voeller, US SAILING Level 1 Certified and one of our racing club members, will instruct Flying Scot Spinnaker Classes.
- Sundays from 12 Noon to 4:00 p.m.
- Classes available for USSCMC members and guests
- USSCMC requires a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 3 students to hold class
- Prerequisite: sailing competency with the ability to tack, jib and hold a steady course
- Classes will focus on practicing the skills necessary to safely fly a spinnaker. The Spinnaker Certification Test will be included as a conclusion of the second Spinnaker Lesson. Passing the test is not guaranteed and will depend on the individuals’ competency level and personal confidence in their sailing skills. Additional classes may be required to achieve these skills.
- For sailors who feel they are already proficient without a class, Spinnaker Tests will be given by appointment on Sunday mornings. Please call to schedule. Spinnaker Certification Test Only: $30
Classes consist of two 4-hour classes
on two consecutive Sundays
